Furrrrrrr REAL!!!

I no it’s been awhile but with school life has been super busy, But im back! I have been inspired so much lately by the fabulous Rachel zoe. Watching the Rachael zoe project I find myself drooling over just about everything she wears. That being said for this fall/winter im a prowl for her signature look of fur! I need a fur jacket now! I have already come quite comfortable with my fur vest but its so on for an all over fur jacket. I find a fur jacket can be so chic and dress up just about any outfit (don’t worry you can wear it casual to with dark denim). Be aware though if not worn the right way you can easily look like a cheap hooker, stay away from wearing anything to skimpy underneath AND if you wear it with a skirt please wear tights underneath. Also be aware of the shape of the jacket often times I find girls wearing ones that are way to boxy for their frames, look for one that has some shape to it.  Last but not least an awesome tip for those of you willing to try a fur jacket- Look at resale shops and thrift stores you’ll find them super cheap and they will have some wear to them and won’t have such a stiff shape! As always have fun with it!

Wedge it out

Normally when you think of wedges you think of summer but not anymore!!! Platform wedges have become a popular alternative to heels for this upcoming fall. These wedges can be worn with just about anything as seen on a lot of fall runway looks, skirts, leggings, dresses, you get it.. Honestly the best part about them is they give you the height you want and yet your still comfortable unlike with your heels ( I don't care what any girl says heels are not comfortable shut up!) Although these wedges might not be everyone's style they sure are fun to look at, they range from such wide colors and patterns. When I saw the leopard print ones I recently purchased (pictured below) I had to have them, they are so different! I'm a fan of wearing mine with leggings and a large over the shoulder shirt or a simple t shirt dress honestly they look cute either way! So for those of you looking for a fun alternative to your usual heels give these wedges a try, chances are you'll end up loving them to!!

I drool over these LOVE THEM!!!

HELLO braids!

Braids were brought back a few seasons ago and have transformed themselves since then. Reading through all the fashion magazines I noticed that a lot of the models are wearing some kind of braid in their hair. With fashion week coming up in a few weeks here I'm sure you'll be seeing a ton more! Regular braids, fishtail ,french, halo braids, honestly you can pretty much do whatever you want with them and your safe! You can keep your braid(s) tight with more of a slicked back feel or keep them messy and loose and let them lay low on your shoulders. Braids are really an easy way to do your hair when your wanting something low maintenance yet stylish for the day! For those of us with a lot of layers or bangs it may take a few minutes longer but still manageable with a few bobby pins and hair spay. So as I always say give it a try play around with your hair find YOUR braid!

Halo Braid Instructions:
  1. Spray a volumizer or dry shampoo all over to give hair some volume.
  2. Start with a classic french plait from the nape of the neck just above the left ear and then work your way around the hairline from left to right (you are braiding from ear to ear) ensure that you bring the hair up to the front of the head as you braid.
  3.  Continue to braid around the head in a circular motion clockwise. When you reach the opposite point, start to pull in the isolated section of hair to continue where you started. Once you get to the end, finish the lengths and ends with a normal plait and secure with a clear hair band.
  4. If you have any excess hair, fold this back on itself and tuck under the original plait to disguise where the plait starts and ends. Then hold in place with a couple of grips to secure the style.
  5. USE LOTS OF HAIR SPRAY TO KEEP THIS LOOK FOR ALL DAY!

when in doubt high waist it

At first I’ll be honest I was really nervous about the whole high waisted shorts trend. Mamas got some curves on her I’m more what you would call bottom heavy (well just a big butt and thighs) so I was worried that they would just look funny on me. Should have known I would love them! I know this is a little late because we are moving into fall soon here but we still have a few more weeks of the sun! Those of you who own a pair pull them out and rock them while we can! Those of you interested in buying them go for it they will still be in next spring/summer. Any body type can really pull these off trust me!

2011 stripes

Stripes are one of those patterns that just never go out of style. You can wear them whenever and wherever and still look good no matter what your doing. Stripes are one of my favorite go to pieces because you can dress them up for an evening or you can wear them casual. People used to believe that stripes often can make a person appear larger however those days are long gone. By knowing your body type you can pick and choose whats right for you. If you a bottom heavy girl I would suggest sticking away from dresses however you can pull of shorts or skirts. Your going to want to break up the stripes so either have a pop of color on the top or bottom. Skinny ladies fortunately you can wear just about anything you want when it comes to stripes. If you are going for a dress make sure you do something to break up the color such as adding something unexpected like hot red high heels or some color in the jewelery. Striped blazers( I LOVE) or tops which anyone can wear are common sense keep it with something neutral on bottom or just plain old denim. Do not stripe on stripe, if your wearing stripes on top don't pair it with something stripe on bottom or shoes for that matter!!

Take a walk on the WILD side!!!

Since my last post was about cardigans I think its only fair to dedicate this to leggings! Leggings have been my best friend since they were brought back in high school years ago. In the fall/winter time I pretty much throw them on with everything. Beware there are rules when it comes to leggings which I will get to at the end of this. Anyways since then there are such a wide variety of leggings ranging in color, texture and patterns. For fall it's all about having fun with them and trying out different ones and seeing what works for you. Patterns range from tribal to stripes to floral and I give full credit to those willing to give it a try! Now here are some rules to stick by when trying out these leggings or any legging for that matter.

1. If your thicker in the leg and thigh area stay away from these bold patterns, more than likely you will end up drawing more attention to your problem areas. Stick to natural colors such as blacks and browns.
2. LAYER!  I cant tell you how many times I see people wearing them and not realizeing that they are often see through, please make sure we don't see every little dimple or spot on your behind!
3. Once there are holes throw them out seriously come on they cost like 6 bucks at Forever go get a new pair!!!
4. THE MOST IMPORTANT-Wear a shirt or tunic that comes atleast passed your butt! Leggings are not pants therefore do not wear them as if they are it tends to look cheap and trashy!
