Winter Headbands

Being a student means walking across campus in the winter time which pretty much sucks. At least for me I’m doing a ton of walk outside in this crisp air and I swear by these headbands! Uhhh hello not only are they super cute but they actually serve as purpose and keep my ears warm I wouldn’t pass them up! Actually I’ll be honest they have become me obsession considering I have one in just about every color. For those of you who are not huge fans of the flower no need to worry they make plan ones also. If you look hard enough you can even find the fancy ones with the little button on the back that allows you to take it on and off without messing up your hair! For less than ten bucks you can keep your ears warm and look cute I say try it!

Gold Rushhhhh

In case you  haven’t noticed yet but the winter "IT" nail polish must have is GOLD! Actually to be specific SPARKLY GOLD!  It seems like the more glitter you can pile on your nail the better. Metallic nails have never been more popular. Now you would think that nail polish is an easy to do however ill just say this if your extremely fair skin try and pick a darker gold; for people lucky enough with olive skin pick whatever shade of gold you want! Before you leave the store with your new gold polish make sure it's not too opaque, if it is you may want to pick up a plain gold polish to layer underneath the sparkles! As always have fun with them how can anyone not like sparkles! Here's a few of my favs!

1.        Just because its winter doesn't mean you cant have fun with your outfits! One of my favorite things to spice up an outfit is to pair a funky pair of tights along with it. I loooove wearing the tights pictured below, I've had them for a few years now but they still look so trendy every time I wear them. Don't be afraid to wear them under skirts, shorts dresses, LONG cardigans, you name it they can work. Also for those of you questioning if there work appropriate Don't worry as long as you keep a more simple patten your good to go. They can be worn day or night and will funk up any outfit! I love mine with boots but heels and flats will work just fine! With so many patterns available the possibilities are endless. So try them out and have fun!

Slick back!

Personally when I think of slicked back hair I'm reminded of elementary school when my mom would do my hair and gel it back into a tight pony! The sexy sleek pony has made its way back into our hearts again giving a classic timeless look. When in doubt a sleek pony is a go to look whether for a night out on the town or a professional interview, you can never really go wrong. I love love love this look right now but unfortunately I have bangs and even trying to pin them back turns into a disaster,so I will not be sporting this look anytime soon. For those of you who don't have anything to worry about give this look a go for the night. My favorite look with these pony's is a dress with a really low back it looks so beautiful but you can rock it with anything! As always have fun with it!

The Sleek Pony:
  1. Add a straightening cream to damp hair
  2. Blow-Dry straight with a round bristle brush.
  3. Smooth hair back with a comb or brush and pull hair at a 45 degree angle from your chin and secure with a hair elastic. Just like the other styles, you can hide the elastic by wrapping a small piece of hair around it and pinning it in with a bobby pin. Don’t freak out if you cant get every single hair to lie smooth.
  4. Take a small amount of a product containing silicone; works well to keep hair shiny and polished.

Obsession

My absoooolute favorite trend for fall if you don’t know by now is fur vests! Sadly I have now started a collection of faux fur vests; they are my go to pieces when dressing up! People either love them or they hate them. Keep in mind that they can be dressed up or down, when dressing up you can easily throw it over a dress or cute sheer blouse. If you’re trying to keep it casual throw one over long sleeves or sweater and jeans and a cute pair of flats. Keep accessories simples TRUST ME fur is a stand out piece, bangles and a simple necklace will do just fine. Now check the tag carefully before you wash it because if you’re not careful this can turn into a disaster and you just wasted your money. I wear mine a few times before I wash it to keep from wear and tear. When it comes time to wash it I suggest that you hand wash and lay flat to dry. NEVER EVER EVER EVER PUT IT IN A DRYER, you will end up ruining it!  And last as fun as fur may be this is a trend you have to be comfortable with, if it’s not your thing don’t try and force it you'll stick out like a sore thumb!

All vests above are from F21

faux Shearling

Some of you may not be the biggest fans of fur, it may  intimidate you or you may just simply not be a fan of wearing fur. Soooo I have given you ladies a trendy alternative :Faux Shearling.
Faux shearling is one of 2011's fall/winter must have pieces, whether you rock a vest or a leather jacket. Shearling is pretty easy to wear and as I said before it's much more tamed down for those of you afraid of fur. I recently purchased a vest from of course Forever(great detailing with the zippers and cute buttons)and cannot get enough of it Personally I throw mine over something simple like a black tank and some leggings and boots (pictured below) when its  colder ill throw it over a thin cable knit sweater. I find with a statement piece like this You may want to keep it simple underneath to keep from looking overdone. Dress it up or down and as always have fun trying new pieces with it!
